Streamsong Resort (Blue Course) Bowling Green, Florida
Our first project in Florida is built for the Mosaic Company on a sandy, undulating tract about 35 miles south of Lakeland. In the process of mining phospate, they took twenty feet of sand off the top of the layer they sought and piled it up into what are now dune ridges running here and there throughout the site. The result is a stunning variety of contour, unlike anything you'd expect to find in Florida.
Bill Coore and Tom Doak routed 36 holes together that intertwine in the middle of the property. Bill took the Red Course with some dramatic undulation at the start and the finish while we built the Blue Course whose features are a bit more subtle. But there are plenty of exciting moments on each, from our elevated first tee, high above the main lake, to Bill's par-5 18th, playing up the back of the big dune ridge on the other side. We are excited to get them open and see what people like the most.
